“I wanted to thank you again for all the work you did with Max. I really feel like you gave us back the dog we knew before he started to have symptoms–he has so much more playful energy and stamina now, and his mobility is so much better. He’s returned to the youthful of 9 or 10! 🙂 And, as much as you helped with Max’s treatment and care, you also really helped us to understand what was happening with him, how to help manage his symptoms and to get the most out of therapy, and of course all the last-minute appointments and weekend emails when he didn’t feel well and it made us stressed and worried. You really did give us more meaningful and fun time with Max, and for that we are eternally grateful.

“I am just absolutely over the moon about Bronson’s progress. Words cannot describe my gratitude for canine rehab. You know, last year I really was looking at rehab as a way to maintain where he was because I was almost sure he wasn’t going to improve, being a senior dog. I am so happy to say that I was completely wrong. He is stronger than he’s been in a really long time, he has more muscle mass, more range of motion, a lot more comfortable getting around in his day today, jumps on the bed(he couldn’t before), plays with his sister more, all around a happy dog with a much better quality of life. not only that, going to canine rehab is his most favorite place in the entire world! He absolutely loves all the girls who work with him and all the friends that he has made. I remember last year his legs would buckle in the cold and he would not be able to walk. It was absolutely devastating to see that my strong boy was at that point. Anyway, my point is that I am so grateful for all of you and we will continue or twice a week rehab as long as we can”

“I met Dr. Brown and the exceptional CRNY team in 2015 when they first opened. Louie, a Golden Retriever, was experiencing some joint stiffness and arthritis typical to the breed. Dr. Brown and her team assessed that he needed laser treatment, water therapy, and exercises to strengthen his muscles in specific places. Nearly five years later and approaching fifteen years old, Louie is in excellent health thanks to the work with Katie, Robyn, Diana, Marcia, and Dr. Brown. Louie not only looks forward to his sessions, he loves them. The CRNY team cares for Louie like he was one of their own, and I could not be more thankful for all the work we have done together to ensure that his senior years are some of his best years. Louie has benefitted so, so much. Even his brother Oliver, who comes along to cheer on Louie and greet their friends. Thank you!”

“My experience with the entire Canine Rehab Team and Dr. Brown has been life changing for Charlie. Charlie was diagnosed with DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) about a year ago. I was devastated and searching for answers on what I could do to slow the progression of the terrible disease and give him the best possible life for as long as I could. I came across Dr. Brown’s Vet Clinic and Rehab gym through a recommendation from a fellow NYC dog owner and researching online for answers. After our first consultation I knew I was in the right place. The initial consultant was extremely informative, I did not feel rushed at all to ask all of my questions, and I left feeling like we had a solid plan in place. Dr. Brown developed a special diet for Charlie to keep his weight under control to make getting around easier. Katie, Robin, and Marcia came up with a specialized Physical Therapy plan for Charlie to keep him strong and as mobile as possible. A mixture of different modalities, strength training, and hydrotherapy makes each session top notch. With a lot of hard work and dedication from everyone I am happy to say that almost a year from being diagnosed, Charlie is still moving around quite well. He is able to enjoy walks, especially Central Park!!”

“My experience with Canine Rehab of New York has been simply outstanding. My 8 year old Chocolate lab mix had developed a fear of walking in the park and her overall anxiety had increased as well. After working with a behaviorist, she suggested that Elizabeth’s issue could be age & pain related. I had her evaluated at CRNY with Dr. Brown and Katie and started a multi week regimen of physical therapy. Over the past several months, Elizabeth’s improvement has been remarkable – she is happier, much more active and her fears have almost completely subsided. We are enjoying our walks in the park again. The team at CRNY are just terrific with Elizabeth and she truly enjoys her time with them. I could not be happier with my experience with CRNY and truly appreciate their dedication and support.”

“Ramsey loves going to Canine Rehab! I tell her ‘let’s go see our friends’ and she charges up the avenue knowing she is heading for a good time and a good workout. Ramsey is 13 and has various mobility issues. I have seen her grow stronger and more energetic through the varied exercises and treatments the team provides. We have loved our experience at Canine Rehab!!”

“My pup Vivian has been going to Canine Rehab of NY for just over a year now: first for a mysterious forelimb limp (which resolved), and then after TPLO surgery (which was a long time coming). The short story is that our experience at Canine Rehab has, and continues to be, amazing. The long story, for those who are interested, is why:

1. Proficient therapists: the team diligently work together to create and carry out a rehabilitation program especially tailored for each dog. Progress is always being monitored and tweaks continue to be made as necessary. Vivian’s recovery from TPLO surgery has been lightning fast, and we owe that to the months we’d spent in therapy beforehand; her surgeon even expressed surprise at how well she was walking the first day post-op.

2. Excellent customer service: To me — and I know I’m not alone in this — the manner in which a service is provided is just about as important as the service itself. Everyone at Canine Rehab is courteous, responsive, and always more than willing to help, both in person and via e-mail. I’ve never been made feel guilty if we arrived late, wanted to reschedule an appointment, etc.

3. They understand dogs: as the parent of a formerly dog-reactive dog (a pit bull, nonetheless), I am hyper aware of the judgement that can be cast on dogs who are anything other than bombproof. Although Vivian is at a stage where she enjoys the company of other dogs, she’s still a little spunky, and is easily frustrated when on-leash. Never has this been viewed as anything other than normal. Moreover, they only work on a maximum of two dogs at a time, and take the dogs’ personalities into consideration when scheduling appointments.

4. They love dogs: I’ll never forget the time I witnessed one of their doggy clients experiencing some pretty bad separation anxiety. Rather than getting frustrated, they brought out treats, misted calming essential oils, put on classical music, and continued to sit and pet her until the session was over. Needless to say, Vivian loves them and they love her back.”

Canine Rehab of NY gave Nick, my 14-year-old dog a new lease on life. When I brought Nick to Canine Rehab, I carried him into their offices. He could barely walk and could not go up or down any stairs. I had to carry him everywhere. But thanks to Canine Rehab’s extraordinary medical and physical therapy expertise and their commitment to quality patient care, Nick is now able to walk and use stairs. The PT regimen that they developed to meet his specific needs were not only life saving for Nick but more important has enabled him to resume a normal dog’s life. Canine Rehab of NY is a first-class rehab facility. To see that on each PT visit, Nick kept getting stronger and better was just wonderful. When Nick first started, I had to carry him into their PT facility, and to see that in just a few weeks he was able to walk on his own into their rehab facility made me leap for joy. I cannot find enough words to thank each and every one of this professional and dedicated team for the care they gave to Nick.

I’m overjoyed that the excellent team at Canine Rehab of NY has given so much help, encouragement, support, and love to my senior dog, who is experiencing mobility issues due to osteoarthritis in her hind end. Though she continues to have the condition, she is getting around better now than she did a year ago, and LOVES going to rehab. We are beyond grateful.

I have felt grateful to Canine Rehab of NY for giving me back little dachshund Daisy who is now 2 1/2 years after surgery almost 16 years old. On March 12, 2018, she woke up completely paralyzed from the waist down. Not terribly unusual for a dachshund as that breed tends to have intervertebral disc disease, which renders their spines vulnerable to multiple sorts of injury. Daisy had emergency surgery, because other than her back she had been up until that day, very athletic, healthy, very happy and full of spirits. A wonderful doctor operated on her and she was in the ICU for 1 week. After 4 weeks of rest at home, she began to walk very unsteadily again, and I found out she had idiopathic vertigo which is unusual for older dogs to develop. She began working with the folks at Canine Rehab 2x per week and pretty soon she was walking well. They had her doing Aqua therapy (which I believe in wholeheartedly because I’ve had 7 joints replaced and swim daily). They had her doing different exercises and treated her with laser, and always showed her great care, love and attention. I felt complete trust in them, and that trust has been more than earned over the past 2+ years! I continue to take her weekly and thankfully they’ve stayed open through the Covid Crisis being very careful and, always adhering to a strict safety protocol. I have such faith in their extraordinary skilled and thorough staff of therapists. I see other dogs come and go who seem extremely happy and so improved from when they first arrived. I hope that she’ll continue to go there for as long as she’s with me on this Earth. She is walking and even running when inspired (usually to chase after a treat ball!) She’s just truly miraculous. It is difficult to find the words to describe the eternal gratitude I feel to Canine Rehab of NY. They have just been so dear to her and me the entire time. One last thing that I’d like to add is that I was so full of worry & anguish over her paralysis, surgery & following weeks of recovery. The calm and concern of the therapists and THEIR steady hands and confidence seems to have affected me so profoundly. I’ve learned so much about what I need to do also and knowing that I can take care of her house is giving me an enormous sense of assurance and steady knowledge that was the support of Canine Rehab, I can take care of her and continue to give her a really good, stable, healthy & happy Life for as long as she’s here.
